Our Company supports and endorses all forms of ECO:

Eco travel encompasses all the variants of ecotourism and green travel.

Ecotourism is a form of tourism involving visiting fragile, pristine, and relatively undisturbed natural areas, intended as a low-impact and often small scale alternative to standard commercial mass tourism. It means responsible travel to natural areas, conserving the environment, and improving the well-being of the local people. Its purpose may be to educate the traveler, to provide funds for ecological conservation, to directly benefit the economic development and sustainable tourism, and to foster respect for different cultures and for human rights.

Ecosystems are dynamically interacting systems of organisms, the communities they make up, and the non-living components of their environment.

  • When should I book my flight in order not to miss the tour departure?
Flights are not always available in abundance to South Africa. You therefor have to book well in advance in order to secure your seat, and by booking early you will most probably get a cheaper price too.
  • What if I am in South Africa and ready for the tour a few days in advance, and what if my flight only leaves a few days after the tour has finished?"
Gauteng (the province in which the O.R. Tambo Airport is located) has a big variety of things to do for everyone. You can contact us for a list of things to do or look at:,
  • Where can I stay when I arrive in South Africa before my tour starts?
You have a big variety and choice of places to stay in the Johannesburg/Pretoria area on your arrival. See list of airport hotels on our website for hotels close to the O.R. Tambo Airport. You can also contact us at any time for enquiries.
  • What if my flight is delayed and I miss the departure of my tour?
We strongly advise that you plan your flight to arrive at the O.R. Tambo Airport at least a day in advance in order to ensure you will be available for your tour. This will also help to get rid of ‘jet lag’, and give you the opportunity to explore some local attractions. Amatungulu will do anything possible to transport latecomers to the touring vehicle which could already be on the road.
  • Is all local transportation included?
All local transportation is included when you are with the group. Before the tour started and after it ended you can explore the city on your own. During this time you will need to cover any transportation you decide to take, whether it's a taxi, bus, etc.

We pride ourselves on our passionate, knowledgeable and professional guides. Our CEO Jakes Conradie has handpicked our staff and uses professional and registered tour Guides to ensure incredible experiences in any destination on any tour.
  • Are the tour leader/professional guides always with the Tourists?
The tour leader/professional guides are with the tour while activities are running. They will leave you after they are sure that you are comfortable at your overnight accommodation, and will always be in contact. They will always be available for activities as per itinerary.
  • Are there age restrictions?
At some lodges where we are going to have game drives, age restrictions are 12 years and under. This however changes depending on the type of vehicle and various conditions. Crèche facilities are available if there is no other choice. Whoever wants to tag along is more than welcome; Amatungulu will always have an alternative option.
